After six years of indiscriminate shelling of the city of Damascus by the terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta, and tens of thousands of dead and wounded, the Syrian government has said enough. The military operation was ordered, with the code name "Damascus Steel," under the command of Major General Soheil al-Hassan of the Syrian Arab Army's Tiger Forces. This decision was the most logical because the Tiger Forces when given an assignment get it done. With the support of the Republican Guard, many mechanized and armoured divisions and National Defence Forces, and with support from the Russian Aerospace Forces, in three weeks huge areas have been liberated. Syrian forces seem to be unstoppable and by all means are determined to bring peace and stability to the entire Damascus region.
Humanitarian aid convoys entered the city of Douma, and exit corridors were opened for civilians to flee to Damascus. Unfortunately, many people don't dare to approach them because they will be targeted and gunned down by terrorist groups. Simply speaking, the majority of civilians in Eastern Ghouta are held hostage and used as human shields, something which we witnessed in East Aleppo in late 2016, and in many other cases before. Without the human shields, terrorists would be defeated very quickly.
After the liberation of Mesraba town, Syrian forces came upon dozens of civilians who refused to withdraw with terrorists and chose to stay and wait for the Syrian soldiers. Their statements speak for themselves, and prove that people were held as a human shields, and that they are seeing the Syrian Arab Army as liberators. After years of brutal governance of terrorist groups, no wonder they felt relieved.
In the towns of Hamoriyah, Kafr Batna, Saqba, Hazeh and Jisreen, civilians took the streets in support of the Syrian Army and Government, demanding that terrorists leave their towns. While writing this article, there was an update on these protests: In the town of Kafr Batna, terrorists from Faylaq al-Rahman opened fire on demonstrators killing at least one civilian, wounding eight. Also, as local media reported, a group of civilians who tried to escape Eastern Ghouta through Harasta neighbourhood were gunned down by the terrorists. This perfectly describes the horrific reality under the rule of criminal gangs in Eastern Ghouta.
Corporate media reported on many occasions that civilians were deliberately targeted by chemical weapons, specifically with chlorine, citing "sources" literally connected with terrorist groups. Now we must raise a very important question: If civilians were targeted by chemical weapons, why would they demand terrorists' withdrawal and embrace the Syrian armed forces who "tried to gas them"? Either these people are suicidal, or all chemical weapons stories are nothing but fraudulent and fake news, part of the continued effort to force Western powers to attack Syria.
The notorious Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) which has been used as the main "source" for Syria by the corporate media, claims that over 1,100 civilians have been killed since the beginning of military operation "Damascus Steel". There is no possibility to confirm those figures, but corporate media choose to take SOHR figures at face value just because it serves perfectly the propaganda against Syria. Since the beginning of the war on Syria, the numbers of civilian casualties has been exaggerated and very often fabricated. On the other hand, the brutality of terrorist groups is hugely ignored and under-reported. This shows how the Western propaganda regime really care for Syrian lives: Selectively and only when it fits their narrative to demonize the Syrian armed forces, their allies and president Bashar al-Assad.
Eastern Ghouta will be liberated. Probably in the same way as in East Aleppo, when in the end terrorists agreed to be transferred to Idlib province. People will start talking about their life in Eastern Ghouta. Just like in East Aleppo, we are going to hear different stories from those which were presented by the corporate media. Just like in East Aleppo all the lies will be discovered. Western propaganda and their fake journalists will ignore the voices of the free people of Eastern Ghouta, just like they did in East Aleppo. Shamelessly and without any moral standards, the corporate media will continue with its lies and fabrications.
The next stop for the Syrian Arab Army and allied forces could be Idlib, and as for Western reporting, it will continue with the same propaganda, no question about it. The Western corporate propaganda machine will sink even deeper. In the end, after seven years of lies about Syria, that is all they have - lies.
